AJI Software User Experience Design Intern: (2014)

Throughout my internship, I collaborated with a team of developers to produce software solutions for a major hospital and local elementary school. Specifically, assisting in creating wire frames, mockups, and prototypes. I applied user experience best practices and procedures throughout the Agile development process, and performed usability testing throughout the course of the projects.

Lab Manager: (2013-2014)

I was the lab manager for Missouri Western State University’s psychology lab. Responsibilities included managing the research participant sign up system, scheduling rooms, training graduate students, and ensuring researchers had the necessary equipment for their studies.

In the spring I taught a course aimed at preparing our students to gain jobs after graduation in psychology. I brought in professionals from areas within psychology that my students had a desire to possibly work in. During the course of the class, they wrote resumes, cover letters, and conducted mock interviews with our professional development center.

Mentoring Undergraduate Students: (2011-2014)

I trained undergraduates on software and usability testing techniques for their independent studies and human factors courses. The independent studies were developing a Smartphone app from concept to prototype and a new credit card checkout kiosk.

Grant for ERTSlab Software: (2013)

The psychology department at Missouri Western State University sought a grant to expand upon its usability testing research. The acquired funds would purchase software to collect data for testing the effects of experience on website layouts with a new user experience method. The software would also increase the knowledge of our undergraduate psychology students to demonstrate abstract concepts and gather data with tests that mimics the real world.

Statistics Website: (2013)

While I was taking a class in PHP, I learned that some of our undergraduate students had difficulty in choosing tests for their research projects. I created a research methods and statistics review website as my project. The overall concept was to design and develop a website that would allow students to receive a quick refresher in the areas of research design, statistics, and SPSS and force them to think their way through the statistics test selection process.

I provided students a review of research designs, statistics, and how to use SPSS along with the ability to download a PDF of each section. Students could also fill out an online questionnaire that would tell them what test they needed to run, and provided a description as to why that test was necessary based on the responses they choose.

Thanksgiving Second Harvest Food Drive: (2013)

During Thanksgiving I wanted to assist families in the St. Joseph community in getting food for the holiday. I coordinated a food drive between the psychology, nursing, communication, and education departments on campus for our local Second Harvest chapter. Approximately 50 pounds of food was collected, sorted, and delivered.

Fall Blood Drive: (2000)

Each fall our school held a blood drive for the Red Cross. I chaired the committee and posted flyers, asked for donors, and volunteers. On the day of the blood drive, I assisted in the setup, directed volunteers to stations, and assisted donors with paper work. Our efforts resulted in the most successful blood drive at our school.
